Which needle you choose depends on the thickness of the thread and the backing. Rule of thumb 1: the thicker the fabric, the finer the needle. Rule of thumb 2: the thinner the needle, the thinner the thread to create a nice flow. And then... clamp the backing, thread the wool, ready, go!
